SCOTS’ CHURCH 150th BUILDING ANNIVERSARY

This year marked a significant milestone for Melbourne’s Scots’ Church as it celebrated 150 years of standing proudly at the corner of Collins and Russell streets. Since its completion in 1874, the church had been a symbol of faith and architectural grandeur, a testament to Melbourne’s golden era.

We celebrated this momentous occasion throughout November, beginning with our complimentary giant sausage sizzle on October 30 during lunchtime..

Scots’ Anniversary Sunday Service and The Proms
Sunday 24 November 11am and 2pm

As part of our 150th Anniversary Celebrations, we were delighted to invite everyone to a special edition of The Proms—a festive and fun-filled musical afternoon inspired by the iconic BBC Proms.

The Proms offered a unique blend of sing-along, concert, and celebration, promising an unforgettable experience for all ages. Attendees enjoyed a performance of beautiful music and fun (with light refreshments afterwards!), right after our anniversary 11am Sunday service.

The Leaflet – 150th Anniversary Special Edition

In honor of our 150th Anniversary, we released a special edition of our quarterly leaflet. It was available in the leaflet section on our website, or it could be accessed directly through this link!

Additionally, free copies are still available in person during our Sunday services or when visiting the church, which is open to the public from 10 AM to 2 PM, Monday to Friday.

As part of this special edition, we also introduced something new: an audio summary podcast generated by Google, which provided an easy-to-digest overview of the leaflet. We encourage everyone to give it a listen!

Giant (Free!) City Sausage Sizzle

We hosted a giant FREE city sausage sizzle on Wednesday, 30th October, from 11:30 AM to 2 PM!

The community came together as part of our 150th Anniversary events. Attendees enjoyed delicious sausages, connected with friends and neighbors, and experienced the vibrant spirit of Scots’ Church.

It was a fantastic celebration—many brought their family and friends for a memorable day filled with great food and fellowship!

Scots’ History Display in 150 Collins St. Foyer
From Friday 8 November

Scots’ Church has a storied legacy in the City of Melbourne. In honor of our 150th building anniversary, we hosted an exclusive history display. This commemorative exhibition opened on Friday, 8th November, at 8 AM in the 150 Collins St. foyer (Westpac building).

The display was available for public viewing throughout the month of November, offering a unique glimpse into the rich heritage and significant moments that shaped Scots’ Church Melbourne. Many stopped by when they were in the CBD!
